Featured Bee ádeil'íní Lesson: Pottery Cultural Teachings
About the Series
Diné College’s Navajo Cultural Arts Program (NCAP) is dedicated to the intergenerational transfer of cultural arts knowledge and skills. As part of that initiative, the Navajo language becomes an axis point of who we are as Navajo artists and Navajo people. Through Bee ádeil’íní: the Navajo Cultural Arts Language Series, the NCAP utilizes real life cultural arts scenarios, immersion language learning techniques, and scaffolding second language learning methods to teach both the Navajo language and Navajo cultural arts practices.
Bee ádeil’íní means to put together. In this manner, through these weekly 6-10 minutes segments, the Navajo language becomes the solder between cultural arts knowledge and cultural arts practices. They are putting together more than just cultural arts ways of life; these segments are a step toward reintegrating and strengthening our Navajo thoughts, Navajo prayers, and Navajo songs as they are associated with our cultural arts.
